Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 91 runs in a one-sided encounter at DY Patil Stadium in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This heavy loss has put Delhi Capitals behind in the race for the playoffs. With this win, Chennai toppled Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to occupy the 8th position in the points table.
While chasing the target of 209, Delhi didn’t get a good start. They lost the early wickets of KS Bharat and David Warner. KS Bharat could manage to score only 18 runs. While Warner was dismissed on 19 runs by Maheesh Theekshana. Warner’s wicket was very crucial for CSK as Warner was in great form.
Delhi Capitals couldn’t recover from this huge blow and they soon lost the wicket of Mitchell Marsh. Marsh scored 25 runs in 20 balls. Rishabh Pant launched a couple of big hits but eventually perished. Ripal Patel and Rovman Powell too were dismissed on single-digit scores.
Chennai Super Kings kept on chipping with wickets at regular intervals. Delhi Capitals never looked like competing in the game. Moeen Ali was the best bowler for CSK. He picked three wickets in four overs giving away just 14 runs.
Here are some of the top Twitter reactions from this match:
Massive win for Chennai. They get a few positives to build on. Conway and Gaikwad set it up and then Delhi were like, let's be Daredevils. This is a big loss for Delhi, hope they find a way to not make same mistakes ahead.

208 should be good enough. What a masterclass by Conway! Great finish by MSD. Who will stop Warner though? Could be moeen upfront. Lets see.. #CSKvsDC

Propa vintage CSK vibe win that, openers with a big partnership and a bit of Dhoni impetus late in the innings. Derailing the opposition run chase with spin later on.

Devon Conway guides CSK to a total of 208 runs
After being invited to bat first, CSK got a great start from their opening pair. Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad put on a 110 runs partnership in 11 overs. Conway continued his great form and played a brilliant knock of 87 runs off 49 balls. He was well supported by Ruturaj who scored 41 runs.
Later, Shivam Dube carried forward the momentum. He played an impactful cameo of 32 runs in 19 balls. In the end, CSK needed a strong finish to take them above 200 runs total. MS Dhoni provided this crucial finishing touch to this innings.
He scored 21* runs in eight balls which helped CSK put up a total of 208 runs. Delhi succumbed to the scoreboard pressure and Chennai secured two crucial points in their kitty.
