Mumbai Indians (MI) are already out of the race for playoffs in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They locked horns with Kolkata Knight Riders at DY Patil Sports Academy. Opting to bowl first, Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc with the ball for the first time this season.

After being invited to bat first, KKR was in a leading position with 136 runs in 14 overs. Hard-hitting all-rounder Andre Russell just arrived on the crease to bat and MI captain Rohit didn’t hesitate in bringing back Bumrah to give the breakthroughs. Jasprit Bumrah didn’t disappoint and he took the most important wicket of the Jamaican all-rounder.

In the same over, Bumrah also dismissed the set batsman Nitish Rana, who played an impactful knock of 43 runs in 26 balls. Bumrah completely turned the momentum of the game towards Mumbai Indians with this wicket. Later, Jasprit Bumrah came in to bowl the 18th over of the match.

He took three wickets in the 18th over and also bowled a maiden over. Bumrah dismissed Sheldon Jackson, Pat Cummins and Sunil Narine in this over. He gave away just 10 runs in his spell of four overs, picking five crucial wickets. Several former cricketers lauded this bowling effort of Bumrah.

“Whenever you help the team, make an impact, that gives me a satisfaction” – Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah looked very happy with his performance. He screamed in joy after picking the Fifer. This Fifer meant a lot for Bumrah because he was in poor form in the ongoing season of IPL. Before this match, Bumrah had picked up just five wickets in 10 matches at a poor economy of eight runs per over.

Jasprit Bumrah in the mid-innings interview said, “It was a good day. I was looking to use the long dimensions of the ground. When things are going your way, it’s important to stay in the present and not to overdo things. Whenever you help the team, make an impact, that gives me a satisfaction. That’s the way I always play my cricket, so happy with my performance.”
