Rajasthan Royals’ young batting sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, recently found himself at the centre of an unexpected controversy. Social media was abuzz with claims that the 14-year-old had failed his 10th standard board exams.

These rumours gained momentum quickly, sparking debates about the balance between academics and sports. However, the truth behind the viral claim paints a very different picture.

Origin of the Rumour, A Satirical Post Misunderstood

The speculation began when a social media page named ‘Satirelogy’ shared a post joking that Suryavanshi had failed his 10th CBSE board exams and that the BCCI had requested a DRS-style review of his answer sheets. The post, clearly intended as satire, humorously highlighted the pressures faced by young athletes.

Despite including a disclaimer that it was “not real news” and “meant for entertainment purposes only,” many took the content at face value. The post quickly spread across platforms, leading to widespread confusion and discussion.

The Real Story: Vaibhav is Still in Class 8

Contrary to the viral claims, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is not even in Class 10 yet. According to a report by The Indian Express, the teenage cricketer is currently a Class 8 student at Modesty School in Tajpur. This clearly invalidates any talk of him failing board exams, as he hasn’t even appeared for them.

At just 14 years old, Vaibhav has already achieved remarkable success on the cricket field, including a record-breaking century against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, making him the youngest batter in the tournament’s history to do so.

Focus on Cricket, Not Fake News

While such rumours may stir unnecessary drama, Vaibhav seems unfazed as he prepares to continue his impressive journey in cricket. Despite the Rajasthan Royals being out of the playoff race in the 2025 IPL season, the youngster remains a key player to watch.

As the league resumes on May 17, fans can expect Vaibhav to deliver more explosive performances with the bat. This incident also serves as a reminder to critically evaluate what we read online, especially when it concerns the lives of young athletes trying to balance school and sport.
