Virat Kohli and his men are ready for the challenging pink-ball Test against England. The day and night Test match between India and England begin tomorrow at Ahmedabad. Ahead of the Test match, Virat Kohli spoke about how the Indian side is preparing for the crucial Test match.

The Indian captain believes that the pink ball swings a lot more than the red ball which will be a challenge for every batsman. Kohli added that the ball does a lot more under the lights in the evening and the first session is the best time to bat against the pink ball.

Weakness in the England side and we have bowlers to exploit it- Virat Kohli

Kohli also affirmed that if conditions are seamer-friendly the Indian fast bowlers are capable of exploiting England’s weakness. He added that his side is only focusing on their strengths and are preparing accordingly for the Test match.

“The pink ball does tend to swing a lot more than the red ball. It’s much more challenging to bat against a new pink ball. The period in the evening is very challenging. We are preparing accordingly”, Kohli said.

“In a pink ball Test, the first session is the best to bat on. You have to take guard again and start from scratch in the evening”.

“We are focused on our strengths as a team. There are weaknesses in the opposition as well and we have the bowlers to exploit those weaknesses. If the conditions are going to be seamer-friendly, then it’s going to be a challenge for them too”, Kohli said in a virtual press conference on Tuesday.

The Indian captain was all praises for Ishant Sharma and pointed out how he has always given importance to Test cricket over white-ball cricket. Kohli admitted that he shares a great trust with his long-time friend Ishant and is looking forward to seeing him play in his 100th Test match.

“Ishant started playing state cricket with me. When he got selected for India, he was sleeping & I had to kick him to give him the news. That’s how far we go. We have great trust between us. I’ve been very happy to see him enjoy his bowling over the years”, said Virat Kohli.
