Virat Kohli has recently revealed that he wants to win the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup this year, for India. The former Indian skipper also stated that this ambition of winning the titles is the biggest motivation for him at present.

It was November 2019, when Kohli scored his last international hundred and the 33-year-old has certainly been through the roughest phase of his all-time great cricketing career. Kohli, after India’s miserable run in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, stepped down as the shortest format skipper of India.

After this stand down, Kohli had to resign from the ODI captaincy too, back in December 2021. Kohli also left the captaincy of his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Although, the biggest thing came up in January 2022, when Kohli resigned from the Test captaincy of India. Overall, without any ICC title, Kohli left all the captaincy positions.

In the IPL 2022, Kohli is again facing a poor run as the Indian great has scored 309 runs in 14 innings with a strike rate of 117.93. Kohli recently scored his second half-century of the IPL 2022, in RCB’s last but vital group-stage game against Gujarat Titans (GT).

Furthermore, talking to Star Sports, Virat Kohli revealed his mindset. The right-hand batter said: “I want to win India the Asia Cup and the (T20) World Cup; that’s the motivation. I have to move forward maintaining a balance, get some rest, some rejuvenation, once I’m in the mindset then there’s no looking back and (it’s) great fun. My main aim is to help India win the Asia Cup and the World Cup and for that I am ready to do anything for the team.”

Besides, RCB hasn’t qualified for playoffs yet and their fortune depends on tonight’s Mumbai Indians’ (MI) clash against Delhi Capitals (DC).

Team India- Schedule after the IPL

Discussing the Indian schedule, the Asia Cup will commence on August 27 and the final will be played on September 11. Sri Lanka is set to host the tournament, but looking at the current crises in the country, Bangladesh may carry on the show.

Moreover, Australia will host the T20 WC and the tournament will commence on October 16 with the final being played on November 13, mostly at the MCG. India will kickstart their WC campaign by facing their traditional rivals, Pakistan on October 23.
