[WATCH]- Abhishek Sharma Blasts Three Consecutive Sixes, Races To A 20-Ball Fifty In IND vs ENG 2025 1st T20I

India‘s opening batter, Abhishek Sharma, blitzed his way to a rapid 20-ball half-century in the first T20I against England on January 22. The match, held at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, is the first of five T20Is between the two teams.

Sharma, who opened the batting with Sanju Samson, had a front-row view as his partner hit Gus Atkinson for 22 runs in the opening over. Sharma quickly got into the action, hitting boundaries at every opportunity.

Sharma showcased his form with a flurry of shots, including a boundary and consecutive sixes off the leg-spinner. He reached his milestone in style, lofting Jamie Overton for a six over fine leg to complete his quick-fire half-century. You can watch the video here:

India beats England by 7 wickets to take 1-0 lead in IND vs ENG 2025 T20I series

India won the toss and chose to bat first, restricting England to 132 in their 20 overs. Jos Buttler (68 off 44) and Harry Brook (17 off 14) were the top scorers as England’s batting faltered against India’s bowlers.

In response, India began well but lost two quick wickets in one over, with Suryakumar Yadav (0 off 3) and Sanju Samson (26 off 20) falling. However, Abhishek Sharma (79 off 34) and Tilak Varma (19 off 16) combined for an 84-run partnership, guiding India to victory with 43 balls to spare.

With this win, India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series. The teams will next meet on January 25 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
