Cricket World in Awe as Abhishek Sharma's Stunning Century Against England in Fifth T20

Abhishek Sharma stood out as India’s top performer, smashing a brisk 68 off 37 balls in the second T20I against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday, October 31. Despite his valiant effort, India fell short, suffering a four-wicket defeat. Batting first, the visitors struggled against a disciplined Australian bowling attack.

Sharma was the lone bright spot, anchoring the innings with a knock that featured eight fours and two sixes. Harshit Rana, contributing from the lower order, played a handy 33-ball 35, helping India reach 125 in 18.4 overs. Other than Sharma and Rana, no Indian batter managed to reach double figures.

Abhishek Sharma, who looked poised to take the game away from Australia and guide India to a strong total, was trapped leg before wicket by seamer Nathan Ellis in the 19th over. His dismissal was quickly followed by Jasprit Bumrah’s run-out, which brought India’s innings to a close.

Attempting to shuffle across and flick a well-directed yorker to the leg side, Sharma mistimed his move and couldn’t get his bat down in time. The ball darted in sharply, striking him on the pads, and the umpire had no hesitation in ruling him out LBW. You can watch the video here:

Australia Take 1-0 Lead In Five-Match T20I Series Against India

With their win in the second T20I, Australia took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series after the opening game in Canberra was washed out due to rain. Josh Hazlewood starred with the ball, producing a superb spell of 3 for 13, which set the tone for the hosts’ dominance. Chasing a modest 126-run target, Australia made light work of the pursuit.

Mitchell Marsh (46) and Travis Head (28)gave the team a flying start, adding 51 runs for the opening wicket before being separated in the fifth over. Josh Inglischipped in with a steady 20 off 20 balls, while Mitchell Owen contributed a quick 14 from 10 deliveries.

Despite brief hiccups with the dismissals of Tim David and Matthew Short, the Aussies cruised to victory comfortably in just 13.2 overs, sealing a convincing win over India.
