[WATCH]- Amol Muzumdar Replicates Rohit Sharma’s Iconic Flag Moment After World Cup Triumph

India women’s team head coach Amol Muzumdar celebrated their ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 victory in a memorable way. The Women in Blue clinched the title by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, November 2. Following the triumph, Muzumdar recreated Rohit Sharma’s iconic flag celebration from Barbados.

Rohit had famously planted the Indian flag on the ground after leading the men’s team to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa. In a similar gesture, Muzumdar placed the national flag on the turf in Navi Mumbai to mark the team’s historic win and later posed proudly beside it, symbolizing India’s growing dominance in world cricket.

Who is Amol Muzumdar?

Amol Muzumdar, one of Indian cricket’s most accomplished domestic players, never got the chance to play for the national team. Throughout his career, he represented Mumbai, Assam, and Andhra in first-class cricket, in addition to featuring for India Under-19 and India A.

Mazumdar made a stunning entry into first-class cricket, scoring an unbeaten 260 on debut in the Ranji Trophy pre-quarterfinal against Haryana. During his India A stint, he shared the dressing room with legends such as Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. Muzumdar later captained Mumbai to a Ranji Trophy title in the 2006–07 season.

Renowned for his consistency and elegant stroke play, the right-hander accumulated 11,167 runs in 171 first-class matches at an impressive average of 48.13, including 30 centuries and 60 fifties. In List A cricket, he added 3,286 runs from 106 innings, which included three centuries.

After retiring, Muzumdar transitioned into coaching and was appointed head coach of the Indian women’s team in 2023, following a successful stint as the batting coach of the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
