[WATCH]- Fan Urges Nita Ambani To Appoint Rohit Sharma As Captain For IPL 2025

A fan recently urged Mumbai Indians (MI) owner Nita Ambani to bring back Rohit Sharma as the captain for the ongoing IPL 2025 season. The request occurred on Sunday, April 13, during Ambani’s visit to the Shri Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi. Veteran opener Rohit Sharma was replaced by all-rounder Hardik Pandya as the team captain before the previous season, sparking criticism from fans.

Mumbai Indians finished at the bottom of the points table in IPL 2024 with just four wins from 14 matches. A video circulating on social media shows the fan asking Ambani:

“Madam, Madam, Rohit ko captain karo, Rohit ko captain karo (Madam, Madam, make Rohit the captain, make Rohit the captain).”

In response to the fan’s request, Nita Ambani replied:

“Baba ki marzi [ Sai Baba’s wish].”

Rohit Sharma is regarded as one of the most successful captains in IPL history. Under his leadership, Mumbai Indians have claimed five IPL titles, tying with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the most championships. Over the course of his captaincy, Sharma led Mumbai in 158 matches, achieving a winning percentage of 55.06 with 87 victories.

Rohit Sharma Faces Struggles in IPL 2025 Form

Star batter Rohit Sharma is experiencing a rough patch this season. The 37-year-old has struggled to find his form, failing to score significant runs. He has managed only 56 runs from five innings, with an average of 11.20. Sharma’s poor run continued in Mumbai Indians’ recent IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday, April 13.

He was dismissed for a low score of 18 runs off 12 balls by leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam. Mumbai successfully defended a target of 206 runs, securing a thrilling 12-run victory. Hardik Pandya and his team became the first to defeat Delhi in IPL 2025, ending Axar Patel’s side’s four-match unbeaten streak.

With two wins from their first six matches, Mumbai Indians are currently in seventh place on the points table. Their next match is against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, April 17.
