Rajeev Shukla, a senior official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), spoke about the potential of an official cricket video game on ‘The Ranveer Show’ podcast, hosted by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia. On the podcast, Ranveer inquired if the BCCI could develop an official cricket video game featuring real player licenses.

The senior BCCI official responded by sharing that discussions about creating an official cricket game had occurred during the Indian Premier League (IPL). He stated:

“Ek baar IPL mai iski baat hui thi. Isme yahi lag raha tha ki yeh juhe ki taraf na chala jaye. Lekin idea accha hai. Isko BCCI agar officially kare toh accha rahega (Once this was spoken about in the IPL. But we thought that this would go towards gambling. But the idea is good. It will be good if the BCCI does this officially),” Shukla said.

He also mentioned that this could serve as a potential revenue stream for the BCCI. Additionally, when Ranveer offered to assist in creating the game, Shukla responded that the digital team would contact him if necessary.

Ranveer also proposed that this initiative would help grow the cricket culture and generate additional revenue for retired players. He mentioned that, over time, it could potentially generate as much income as the IPL.

Ravindra Jadeja Becomes Second Indian to Achieve 6000 Runs and 600 Wickets

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja achieved a milestone, becoming only the second Indian after World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev to score 6000 runs and take 600 wickets in international cricket. In the first ODI between India and England in Nagpur on February 6, Jadeja took three wickets, helping the hosts dismiss England for 248.

With this performance, Jadeja now has 600 wickets in international cricket (across Tests, ODIs, and T20Is) from 352 matches, along with 6641 runs. Kapil Dev is the only other Indian to achieve this feat, having scored 9031 runs and taken 687 wickets in his Test and ODI career.
