Veteran England pacer James Anderson was seen bowling left-arm spin in the practice session during the second Test against India at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. He failed to make it to the England playing XI in the ongoing Test.

A video has gone viral on social media from the second Test match. During the practice session at the ground, James Anderson was seen with left-arm spinner Jack Leach, learning spin bowling. He was also seen bowling some left-arm spin during the session, taking tips from Leach. The on-air commentators were also amazed to see the unusual sight of James Anderson. Ravi Shastri who was one of the commentators said, “It’s coming out nicely. Very nicely. Well done, Jimmy.”

England left out James Anderson from the playing XI for the first Test against India. Considering the spin-friendly Indian conditions, they also went in with one pacer, Mark Wood and three spinners. Anderson is on his eighth tour to India and has taken 34 wickets at an average of 29.32 in Indian conditions. Overall, he has 690 wickets to his name in the format, with 32 five-wicket hauls.

India in command ahead of day three

Team India has a lead of 175 runs in the first innings, scoring 421 runs at the loss of seven wickets. Ravindra Jadeja is at the crease along with Axar Patel at the end of the second day’s play in Hyderabad. Jadeja is unbeaten on 81, while Axar has scored 35 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (80 runs) and KL Rahul (86 runs) also scored valuable runs. Meanwhile, Tom Hartley and Joe Root have taken two wickets each in the innings. Earlier, England managed 246 runs, with Ben Stokes scoring 70. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets each. India will be keen to take the lead past the 200-run mark on the third day of the test match.
