Gujarat Titans (GT) fast bowler Jason Holder provided a crucial breakthrough by dismissing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stalwart Virat Kohli during IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Tuesday, May 26. Kohli’s brisk innings came to an end at 43 runs from 25 deliveries, featuring five fours and a six. His wicket left RCB at 93/2.
The breakthrough arrived in the ninth over of the innings. Holder delivered a short ball outside the off stump, and Kohli attempted to pull it towards the leg side. However, he only managed an inside edge that ricocheted onto the stumps. The former RCB captain appeared visibly disappointed after the dismissal, having looked in fine touch before throwing away a promising start.

RCB Stunned by Holder’s Double Blow as GT Fight Back in Qualifier 1
Jason Holder struck twice in the same over to pull Gujarat Titans back into the contest after Royal Challengers Bengaluru enjoyed a productive stand between Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal in IPL 2026 Qualifier 1. Having removed Kohli on the second ball of the over, the West Indies pacer followed it up by sending Padikkal back on the fourth delivery, caught behind.
Earlier, Kagiso Rabada had provided the first breakthrough by dismissing Venkatesh Iyer for 19. At the time of writing, RCB were placed at 97/3 in 9.1 overs, with captain Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya occupying the crease. Notably, RCB and GT finished the league stage in the top two positions on the IPL 2026 points table, giving both sides two opportunities to reach the final.
The winner of Qualifier 1 will book a direct spot in the title clash, while the losing side will get another chance in Qualifier 2 against the Eliminator winner. This marks the third meeting between the two teams in IPL 2026. RCB emerged victorious by five wickets in their Bengaluru encounter, while GT returned the favour with a four-wicket win in Ahmedabad.
Led by Rajat Patidar, RCB are aiming to defend their crown after defeating Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final to secure their maiden title.
