Liam Livingstone failed to create his impact with the bat in the ongoing match of IPL between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (DC) at DY Patil Sports Academy. Livingstone managed to score just three runs off five balls before he was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav.

In the 8th over of the run-chase, Livingstone stepped out of his crease against the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav. However, the English cricketer completely missed the ball. He didn’t read the googly properly and got nowhere close to the pitch of the ball. The ball turned away past his outside edge and Rishabh Pant did a good stumping behind the stumps to send back Livingstone.

Kuldeep Yadav looked delighted with this wicket. It was a crucial wicket for Delhi Capitals because Liam Livingstone has been in red hot form in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League. He has smashed 387 runs in IPL 2022 at an amazing Strike rate of 181. He has also picked up 6 wickets with the ball.

The wicket of Livingstone completely broke the back of Punjab Kings in the run chase. Despite a breathtaking start, Mayank Agarwal were all out for 142 runs, losing the game by 17 runs. With this defeat, Punjab’s playoff chances took a major dent and it will now require massive turnaround for them to make it to the top four.

“Between 5-10 we lost too many wickets” – Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal

PBKS captain Mayank Agarwal lamented losing too many wickets in the middle overs as the reason behind their defeat against Delhi Capitals. Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Mayank said:

“Between 5-10 we lost too many wickets and that’s where we lost the game. It was definitely chaseable for the batting we have, and the wicket wasn’t as bad as it seemed.”

Punjab Kings will play Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last league game on Sunday.
