Australian women’s team registered their third win of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 on Sunday against New Zealand. They won the match by a huge margin of 141 runs, at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.

During the match, New Zealand batter, Maddy Green’s stunning effort in the field, earned praise on social media. In the 45th over of the first innings, Australian batter, Ellyse Perry cleared her front leg, to slam a brilliant shot off the middle of the bat.

She didn’t bother to run, assuming it to be at least a boundary. However, Maddy Green ran in from the long-on, and dived to her left, to complete a stunning, air-borne catch.

The Australian women’s team ranks first in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022. They restricted New Zealand to 128 runs in the second innings, to secure a 141 runs victory on Sunday.

Ellyse Perry and Tahlia McGrath’s fifties, and Amy Gardner’s 48* helped Australia to set a target of 270 runs in 50 overs, for New Zealand. However, apart from Amy Sattherwaite, the rest of the New Zealand batters could not make much of an impact. They were bowled out for a paltry, 128 runs in 31 overs. Darcie Brown picked three wickets for Australia.

Ellyse Perry won the Player of the Match for her 68-runs knock. After this win, Australia has six points from three matches and a Net Run Rate of 1.626. They will take on West Indies next on March 15 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.
