[WATCH]- Marco Jansen Falls For 93 As Kuldeep Yadav Strikes On Day 2 Of IND vs SA 2nd Test

South African all-rounder Marco Jansen looked dejected after falling just short of his maiden Test century on Day 2 (Sunday, November 23) of the second Test against India at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. His dismissal came on the very first delivery of the 152nd over in South Africa’s first innings.

Kuldeep Yadav delivered a googly wide of the off stump, which Jansen tried to steer past the slip cordon. Instead, the ball caught the bottom edge of his bat and deflected onto the stumps, leaving the right-hander clearly frustrated. You can watch the video here:

Marco Jansen returned to the pavilion after a superb 93 off 91 deliveries, a knock highlighted by six boundaries and seven towering sixes.

South Africa Post Dominant 489 Despite Kuldeep Yadav’s Four-Wicket Haul

South African skipper Temba Bavuma opted to bat first, with his side closing Day 1 at 247/6 after 81.5 overs. Senuran Muthusamy (25*) and Kyle Verreynne (1*) remained unbeaten at the end of the day, while Kuldeep Yadav emerged as India’s top performer with three wickets.

On Day 2, Muthusamy and Verreynne continued to frustrate the Indian attack, carrying South Africa through the entire morning session without any damage and taking the score to 316/6 after 111 overs. After tea, Ravindra Jadeja finally broke through for India by ending their 88-run partnership and removing Verreynne for a gritty 45 off 122 balls.

Marco Jansen walked in next and, along with Muthusamy, shifted the pace of the innings by scoring at ease. Muthusamy reached his maiden Test century, and the duo stitched together an impressive 97-run stand off just 106 balls for the eighth wicket. Muthusamy eventually departed for a superb 109 off 206 deliveries, which included 10 fours and two sixes.

Jansen, meanwhile, crossed fifty and continued to attack but fell agonisingly short of his maiden Test hundred, dismissed for an excellent 93 off 91 balls. South Africa were ultimately bowled out for 489 in 151.1 overs. For India, Kuldeep Yadav picked up four wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj claimed two each.
