Pakistan‘s seasoned spinner Noman Ali claimed a hat-trick in the opening session of the second Test against the West Indies in Multan on Saturday, January 25. The left-arm spinner caused chaos in the visitors’ middle order, removing Justin Greaves, Tevin Imlach, and Kevin Sinclair in the 12th over of the innings.
Noman Ali became the first Pakistani spinner and the fifth overall from the country—after Naseem Shah, Mohammad Sami, Abdul Razzaq, and Wasim Akram (twice)—to achieve a Test hat-trick.
The West Indies found themselves in early trouble after choosing to bat in their final match of the 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle. Debutant Kashif Ali made an immediate impact, dismissing Mikyle Louis in his first over, followed by the spin pairing of Sajid Khan and Noman Ali taking charge.
The left-arm spinner started the 12th over by having Greaves edge a delivery to Babar Azam in the slip field. He then trapped Tevin Imlach LBW as the batter missed a sweep shot. For the crucial hat-trick delivery against Kevin Sinclair, he bowled a flighted ball, pitched on middle and leg.
The ball spun, eliciting an outside edge, which Babar Azam managed to catch in a tumbling effort from close range. You can watch the video here:

The West Indies were left struggling at 38-7 following Noman Ali’s hat-trick. Kavem Hodge and Gudakesh Motie are the only players to reach double figures so far, with the visitors now at 54-8 after 16.2 overs in the first session. Pakistan triumphed by 127 runs in the opening match of the two-Test series.
Noman Ali Key to Pakistan’s Resurgence at Home
After enduring a prolonged drought without a home Test win for a cycle and a half in the World Test Championship (WTC), Pakistan took drastic steps to reverse their fortunes. With rank turners making a return, the reshuffled selection committee reintroduced Noman Ali and Sajid Khan for the second half of the series against England last year.
The left-arm spinner took 20 wickets in just two Test matches, helping Pakistan recover from a 0-1 deficit to win the series 2-1. He also claimed a five-wicket haul in Pakistan’s recent victory over the West Indies in the first Test in Multan.
