The Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad game saw a topsy-turvy turn before Bangalore pocketed two crucial points at the Dubai International Stadium. Meanwhile, the game witnessed a couple of players copping up injury blows including Rashid Khan knocked down after an ugly collision with Abhishek Sharma.

Meanwhile, batting first, Devdutt Padikkal and AB de Villiers powered Bangalore to 163 runs after a solid start. Debutant Padikkal was superb with the bat and put the balls across the parks with ease. He played a fine knock of 56 runs as he and Aaron Finch shared a 90-run partnership.

While Hyderabad made a comeback in the middle overs, de Villiers utilised the death overs to put 150+ runs on the scoreboard. It proved to be enough in the end as Sunrisers Hyderabad finished 10 runs short to go down in their IPL 2020 opener.

After a brisk start from Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey, Royal Challengers Bangalore made a comeback courtesy Yuzvendra Chahal. The leg-spinner removed Bairstow and Vijay Shankar from back-to-back balls to put Bangalore in the frame before Navdeep Saini cleaned up the tail.

Meanwhile, in the 17th overs of Sunrisers’ innings, an unfortunate event occurred when Abhishek Sharma collided with Rashid Khan. Sharma hit the ball towards the deep backward square. After completing a run the duo then decided to go for the second.

That slight hesitation led to ball-watching by both as they rammed into each other without realizing that they were running down the same line. As a result, Sharma was run-out while Rashid Khan hobbled toward’s the bowling end. The Afghan leg-spinner was in immense pain as the physio had to conduct a concussion test. However, it was not too serious as he came back to bat again.
