Watch – Ravindra Jadeja Hits Bullseyes To Run Out Steve Smith

Ravindra Jadeja turned out to be the hero for Team India on day 2 of the third Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. After the Aussies dominated the first day of the Test match, Jadeja provided the much-needed breakthroughs before ending Australia’s first innings with a brilliant run out to dismiss centurion Steve Smith.

Marnus Labuschagne and Smith gave the host the much-needed impetus on day 1 and carried the innings today before Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Labuschagne nine short of his century. He also forced Matthew Wade to commit an error before Jasprit Bumrah struck immediately with the new ball to remove Cameron Green, who was left exposed to the new ball by Wade.

While wickets tumbled on from the other end, Steve Smith looked determined to cross the three-figure mark. He worked tirelessly in the nets leading to this game unleashing an attack on the Indian spinners to end his run drought. He scored his 27th Test century and eight against India to take Australia over the 300-run mark.

Steve Smith pushed one short of a good length delivery from Jasprit Bumrah into the on-side backward of square off the inner edge. He tried to keep the strike coming back for a second. But, he fancied his chance against the wrong man. Ravindra Jadeja ran to his right from square leg, picked the ball and hits the bulls-eye at the striker’s end to catch the centurion short of his crease.

Australia thus finished their innings at 338 runs and it will require a monumental effort from India to take a first-innings lead. The spotlight will be on Rohit Sharma, who is returning to the Test arena after a 14-month long haul.
