Watch: Rishabh Pant Convinces Virat Kohli To Take DRS; Results In Zak Crawley Wicket

India’s tour of England got underway with the first test match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham today. The Indian team has got off to a fine start after reducing England to two down for 60 in the first session.

Jasprit Bumrah gave India the early breakthrough as he dismissed Rory Burns for a duck in the very first over of the match. Drama unfolded in the 21st over of the innings as Zak Crawley got out to Mohammad Siraj.

On the third ball of the over, Crawley tried to poke at an inswinging delivery which clipped around his knee roll and went to the keeper, Rishabh Pant, who seemed excited and appealed for a caught behind. The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli went with his call and asked for a review, which clearly showed that no bat was involved. As a result, India lost the review. The Indian skipper was criticized on air by commentator Sanjay Manjrekar for the failed review.

Just a few deliveries after Siraj bowled a ditto inswinger and this time, Zak Crawley edged it to the keeper. But the umpire wasn’t impressed. Rishabh Pant was confident of the appeal and advised Kohli to go for a review. Kohli, given the failed review previously, was skeptical but eventually gave in and asked for a review. Crawley had a clean knick on the bat and was dismissed for 27 off 68 deliveries.

India-England share the first session

The Indian bowlers have been disciplined with their bowling so far in the match. They have bowled on tighter length and lines to keep the score in check. On the other hand, England, having lost their opener Rory Burns and Zak Crawley will have plenty to work on. With Dominic Sibley and skipper Joe Root at the crease, they will look to lay a solid foundation in the second session of Day 1 at Trent Bridge.
