India’s star batsman Shubman Gill was seen taking photos with police officers and young fans upon his arrival in New Delhi on Wednesday, August 13. The 25-year-old last appeared in the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, where he made his debut as India’s Test captain in an exciting five-match series that ended in a 2-2 draw.

The series marked India’s first without seasoned players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who retired from red-ball cricket in May. Gill led the team brilliantly, finishing as the top run-scorer with 754 runs from 10 innings at an impressive average of 75.40, including four centuries, and earned the Player of the Series award for the visitors.

Looking ahead to his next international challenge, the Asia Cup 2025, set to begin in the UAE on September 9, Gill was spotted arriving in Delhi with friends and happily posing for photos with fans. You can watch the video here:

Meanwhile, Team India has been placed in Group A with the UAE, Pakistan, and Oman. Their tournament will begin against the UAE on Wednesday, September 10, in Dubai.

Shubman Gill To Lead North Zone In 2025 Duleep Trophy

Ahead of the Asia Cup, Shubman Gill will captain North Zone in the Duleep Trophy, beginning on August 28, signaling the start of the 2025-26 domestic season. His team also includes international players Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Anshul Kamboj, who made his Test debut in the England-India series earlier this year.
