[WATCH]- Siraj Strikes Twice In Two Balls, Dismisses Root And Stokes Early On Day 3

India’s pace spearhead Mohammed Siraj delivered a fiery spell early on Day 3 of the second Test at Edgbaston, claiming the key wickets of Joe Root and Ben Stokes in successive deliveries. With this double blow, England found themselves in deep trouble, having lost half their side by the 22nd over of their first innings.

Siraj first dismissed Root, who had looked comfortable on 22, with a delivery angled down leg. Root attempted to glance it fine but ended up edging it to Rishabh Pant behind the stumps. The very next ball, Siraj unleashed a short one that rose sharply, catching Stokes off guard.

The England captain couldn’t fend it off cleanly, offering a simple catch to Pant once again. Both dismissals came in identical fashion, caught behind by the wicketkeeper, leaving England reeling at 84 for 5 in 21.4 overs. You can watch the video here:

Akash Deep, Siraj Step Up in Bumrah’s Absence to Keep India on Top on Day 3

A clinical bowling effort from Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj ensured India maintained their dominance over England on Day 3 of the second Test. While Siraj made a major impact in the morning session, Akash had already done damage late on Day 2, removing Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope for ducks.

At the time of writing, England were 99 for 5 in 24 overs, with Harry Brook and Jamie Smith trying to revive the innings. Earlier, India posted a massive 587 in their first innings. Skipper Shubman Gill led from the front with a brilliant 269 off 387 balls, including 30 boundaries and three sixes.

With this knock, he became the first Asian captain to score a double century in Tests in SENA countries. Ravindra Jadeja (89 off 137) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (87 off 107) also played key roles. Shoaib Bashir claimed three wickets, while Woakes and Tongue picked up two each.
