Tristan Stubbs and Dewald Brevis were recently seen engaging with an Indian cricket fan while stepping out for dinner in Ahmedabad on the evening of February 26, 2026. The young South African players were out in the city after fulfilling their match duties in the 2026 T20 World Cup.

After being recognized by an Indian Cricket Team supporter, both cricketers paused to sign autographs. The fan is said to have requested them to overcome the West Indies in their forthcoming clash to boost India’s qualification prospects, and the duo reportedly responded with confidence, assuring him of a victory.

Stubbs And Brevis Secured: DC And CSK Finalise Retentions For IPL 2026

For the IPL 2026 season, both Tristan Stubbs and Dewald Brevis have been officially retained by their respective franchises following standout performances in previous years. Tristan Stubbs remains a cornerstone of the Delhi Capitals (DC) middle order after being retained for INR 10 crore.

His retention follows a breakthrough 2024 season where he was DC’s second-highest run-scorer with 378 runs at a strike rate of 190.90, the highest in death overs that year. As DC heads into 2026 under a “smart rebuild” strategy, Stubbs is expected to play a vital finishing role alongside newly traded-in veteran Nitish Rana

Meanwhile, Dewald Brevis has secured his spot with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for IPL 2026 after the franchise retained him for INR 2.2 crore. Originally signed as a replacement player during the 2025 season, “Baby AB” quickly became a fan favourite by scoring 225 runs in just six innings at an explosive strike rate of 180.

His value has skyrocketed globally, as evidenced by him becoming the most expensive player in SA20 history for the 2026 season. Experts like Anil Kumble have tipped Brevis to be a long-term cornerstone for CSK, especially as the team transitions into a new era.
