[WATCH]: Unlucky Ellyse Perry Is Dismissed At 99 In The Women’s Ashes Test

In the 2023 Women’s Ashes Test on Thursday, Australian star all-rounder Ellyse Perry was just one run short of reaching her century.

Perry attempted to force a square drive against right-arm pacer Lauren Filer’s wide delivery while batting at 99 in the 60th over of Day 1 of play.

The ball sped off the bat but fell directly to Nat Sciver-Brunt in the gully, who successfully held on to it.

In the almost identical previous delivery, Perry attempted to time the ball behind the slips but was unsuccessful in doing so, and the ball barely avoided Sciver-Brunt at the same location to travel to the boundary.

After engaging in a competitive duel with rookie Filer, Australia’s star missed out on a third Test century

Following her dismissal, Trent Bridge’s crowd greeted Perry’s return with cheers and a standing ovation.

Her knock, which had a healthy strike rate of 64 points and 15 fours, was impressive.

Defeating Perry gave 22-year-old Filer his second victory of the day.

With an almost exact replica of her strategy, she defeated Beth Mooney to claim her first Test wicket.

The ball flew from the edge of her bat for a sharp catch by Kate Cross at gully on her outswinger to Mooney in the 22nd over, which Mooney failed to field.

As a result of Perry and Tahlia McGrath’s 119-run partnership, which raised the score from 83/2 in the 22nd over to 202/2 in the 47th over, England completed a stunning comeback.

Before Perry was dismissed, England appeared to be out of it. However, in just 13 overs, the next four wickets fell for just 36 runs.

Australia eventually finished the day with 328/7. At 39 (71) and 7 (11) respectively, the crease belonged to Annabel Sutherland and Alana King.

The incredible record Ellyse Perry has had against England.

Perry’s defeat of their bitter rivals England added to her incredible record against them. Third fifty against England for her.

The 32-year-old had 683 runs from nine Tests at an average of 68 points 30 before this Test, including two centuries.

She has also taken 35 wickets at an average of 18 points 54 against the hosts, and when England bats first, she will be a crucial bowler.
