Virat Kohli and Babar Azam shared a brief side hug on the field as Babar walked out to bat. India and Pakistan are facing off in their second group-stage match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, February 23.

Both teams are part of Group A, and Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan chose to bat first after winning the toss. Openers Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam walked in to start the innings. As Imam took his stance at the striker’s end, Virat Kohli greeted Babar Azam at the other end, sharing a warm moment.

India began their campaign with a six-wicket win over Bangladesh, earning two points. Meanwhile, Pakistan suffered a 60-run defeat to New Zealand in their opener and are aiming to secure their first points in tonight’s match.

India Stick to Same XI, Pakistan Forced to Make One Change

Ahead of their crucial clash against India, Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman was ruled out due to an injury sustained in their opening match against New Zealand. As a result, Pakistan had to make a forced change, bringing in Imam-ul-Haq as his replacement.

Meanwhile, India, coming off a win, stuck with an unchanged XI. Skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed they would continue with the same combination. The pace attack features Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana, with Hardik Pandya as an all-rounder, while the spin department includes Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.
