Watch- Will Young Takes A Blinder At Boundary; Netizens Call It The ‘Best Catch Of 2022’

On Day 4 of the second Test between New Zealand and South Africa at Christchurch, Will Young put on a spectacular fielding display. Colin de Grandhomme was bowling to Marco Jansen in the 79th over of South Africa’s second innings.

Jansen flicked the second ball of the over to deep mid-wicket off his pads, and it appeared to be heading for a boundary until Will Young came flying and took a one-handed blinder. “You will not see a better catch than that.”, said one of the on-air commentators. The video clip of the same went viral on social media with fans already calling it the ‘Best Catch of 2022.’

Renowned commentator Ian Bishop also lauded Young for the extraordinary effort.

South Africa on top in the 2nd Test

Meanwhile, South Africa declared their second innings at 354-9, with wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne unbeaten on 136, his first Test century. Verreynne’s knock was packed with 16 fours and 1 six. In reply, Kiwi openers- Tom Latham and Will Young lost their wickets within the first three overs. At stumps on Day 4, New Zealand are 94-4, needing 332 runs to win and just six wickets to survive the final day.

For the visitors, Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj looked in great touch in the second innings, both taking two wickets each. Rabada had registered a fifer in the first innings as well. The 26-year old made an impact with the bat also, playing a quickfire knock of 47 runs off 34 deliveries in the second innings.

Devon Conway (60*) and Tom Blundell (1*) will resume proceedings for the hosts on Day 5. New Zealand, who are 1-0 up , will find it hard to stop the Proteas from drawing the two-match Test series.
