West Indies Collapse For 27, Register Second-Lowest Test Total vs Australia

The West Indies endured a disastrous performance in the final Test of the three-match series against Australia at Sabina Park, Kingston. Chasing a target of 204, the hosts collapsed to just 27 runs—the second-lowest total ever recorded in Test history. Their innings wrapped up swiftly, making it the third-shortest Test innings of all time.

Australia’s pace duo, Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland, spearheaded the demolition. Starc claimed a remarkable six-wicket haul in just 7.3 overs, while Boland made headlines with a stunning hat-trick. In a historic feat, Starc also recorded the fastest five-wicket haul in a Test innings, taking five wickets in only 2.3 overs.

He sealed the innings by dismissing Jayden Seales, securing a comprehensive win for Australia and completing a dominant 3-0 series sweep.

Notably, Mitchell Starc was honored with a guard of honour from his teammates after reaching the milestone of 400 career Test wickets, becoming just the fourth Australian to achieve the feat. Australia wrapped up the match with a commanding win, with their bowlers delivering what is now regarded as the team’s finest-ever bowling performance in a Test innings.

Mitchell Starc Shines As Australia Seal Dominant Series Win

Mitchell Starc was outstanding right from the start, striking three times in the opening over to derail the West Indies‘ innings. He removed John Campbell with the first ball of the second innings, then dismissed Kevlon Anderson and Brandon King on the fifth and sixth deliveries, completing a sensational triple-wicket maiden.

Returning to bowl the fifth over, Starc continued his fiery spell by sending back Mikyle Louis and Shai Hope on the first and third deliveries. With that, he secured the fastest five-wicket haul ever recorded in Test cricket. The Australian bowling unit showed no leniency, dismantling the Windies in stunning fashion and sealing one of their most dominant Test victories.

Starc’s brilliance, combined with unwavering support from the rest of the attack, left the hosts stunned and the series decisively in Australia’s hands. The focus now shifts to the five-match T20I series starting July 20.
