Virat Kohli shaped up as a matchwinning cricketer for India under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. He then took over the mantle of captaincy from Dhoni in 2017 as he stepped down in 2017. Since 2017, Kohli’s captaincy has flourished and so has his batting. However, no ICC trophy in Kohli’s account as yet has made the experts question his longevity as an Indian captain already. 

Meanwhile, in 2015, MS Dhoni made Virat Kohli keep wickets, the video of which has gone viral on social media. Kohli was asked to keep wickets for India during an ODI against Bangladesh in 2015. It all happened when India locked horns with Bangladesh in an ODI at the latter’s home. Kohli took over the wicket-keeping responsibilities for the 44th over of Bangladesh’s innings as Dhoni went to the washroom.

In conversation with Indian opener Mayank Agarwal on his talk show – ‘Open Nets with Mayank’, the current Team India captain had recalled the same episode about keeping the wickets for India in Dhoni’s absence. 

“Kabhi Mahi bhai se puchiyo how did this happen (Try and ask Mahi Bhai as to how did this happen). He said ‘yaar do teen over just keep wickets (Mate, please keep wickets for couple of overs)’. I was keeping wickets and also adjusting the field,” Kohli had told Agarwal. 

Meanwhile, in the ongoing IPL 2021, Virat Kohli’s RCB is on a dream run at the moment winning their first four games. They top the table with 8 points. CSK follows them closely at number two with eight points as well. 

This is the first game between the two champions leaders of the IPL. Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium is the venue and it is expected to be a high-scoring encounter.
