Why Is Ravindra Jadeja Missing From India’s Playing XI In The 3rd ODI Against England 2025?

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is not part of the playing XI for the third ODI against England, taking place today, February 12, in Ahmedabad. Having already secured the series with wins in the first two matches in Nagpur and Cuttack, India has made a few changes for the final game.

Jadeja has been rested, with captain Rohit Sharma confirming at the toss that there are no injury concerns. In his place, spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar has been included in the squad for this dead rubber.

Along with Jadeja, Mohammed Shami has also been rested, while spinner Varun Chakravarthy misses out due to a sore calf, resulting in three changes for Team India. Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Arshdeep Singh have been added to India’s playing XI for the third ODI against England.

India secured the series with back-to-back four-wicket wins in the first two matches and will now aim for a clean sweep, while England hopes to avoid a whitewash. In the final match of the series in Ahmedabad, England won the toss and opted to bowl first.

How has Ravindra Jadeja performed in the ODI series against England?

Ravindra Jadeja, a key player for Team India and a member of the 2025 Champions Trophy squad, featured in the first two ODIs against England. He delivered an impressive bowling performance in the series opener in Nagpur, taking 3/26 in nine overs at an economy rate of 2.9, making him India’s standout bowler.

With the bat, he remained unbeaten, scoring 12 runs off 10 balls. The all-rounder continued his strong bowling performance in the second ODI, claiming three wickets for just 35 runs in his 10-over spell. He also remained unbeaten with the bat, scoring 11 runs off seven balls, as India secured another victory.

Jadeja’s exceptional bowling display in the series serves as a significant confidence boost for India ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
