The current skipper of the Indian National Cricket Team Virat Kohli and South Africa’s AB de Villiers entertained fans on Instagram discussing various aspects of their cricketing life. In one of those conversations, Virat Kohli revealed how Mark Boucher made an impact on his career during his stay with the Bangalore franchise.
Virat Kohli was told by former Test wicketkeeper and current South Africa head coach Mark Boucher to learn the art of playing the short ball to survive in international cricket. He further expressed his hope in Virat Kohli representing the Indian National Cricket Team in the near future

Even though Team India has been blessed with some of the most fierce strikers of the ball in the gentlemen’s game, many Indian batsmen have had troubles in dealing with short-balls. Speaking of the same, Kohli talked about his early struggles of dealing with short-ball and how South African coach Boucher came to his rescue.
“Boucher told me in 2008 to improve my game against the short ball. He had the vision. He also told me when I come to India in four years time and if I don’t see you playing for India, I will be disappointed,” Kohli said to his star teammate and South Africa batting legend De Villiers during the duo’s Live Instagram session.

Further, he showered words of praise on Gary Kirsten for giving him a good knowledge about the game. Virat Kohli also thanked all the individuals, who have been part of his success over the years. He also recalled Fletcher, who used to be his coach.
“Gary always gave me positive feedback. Then, Fletcher, he had a keen eye for the game. So many people who have contributed (to my growth),” Kohli added.
