WTC Final 2023 [WATCH]: Scott Boland Removes Shubman Gill With A Stunning Dellivery

In the World Test Championship final against India, Australia amassed a massive 469-run total in their first innings. There was a lot riding on the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.

The opening combination of India captain Rohit Sharma and gifted youngster Shubman Gill was under pressure after Australia’s massive total, more so because they started bowling well too. The second day’s second session saw both batters fall. Though the Indian team was left in shambles. Gill was bowled by Scott Boland while Rohit Sharma was trapped LBW by Pat Cummins.

When Gill committed and dropped the ball, the ball swung back and struck his stumps. For the Indian cricket team, it was a stunning sight, but not so much for the rest of the world.

Following Australia’s impressive 469 in their opening innings of the World Test Championship final, which took place here on Thursday. India found themselves in a challenging situation due to the early loss of their openers.

In the first hour of the afternoon session, Australia added 142 runs to their overnight score at the cost of seven wickets. Mohammed Siraj, who had four wickets, was India’s best bowler and cleaned up the tail.

India batted for 10 overs before the tea break and suffered a double blow when captain Rohit Sharma and vice captain Shubman Gill were bowled by Pat Cummins and Scott Boland, respectively.

With Cheteshwar Pujara (3 batting) and Virat Kohli (4 batting) in the middle, they were down 432 runs at tea and were at 37 for two. Before pretending to be someone they weren’t, Gill (13 off 15) and Rohit (15 off 26) both appeared to be in good shape.

Before Gill strangely decided to leave a delivery from Boland on length only to see his stumps being uprooted in the subsequent over, Rohit mishandled a ball from Cummins that was angled in. Although the conditions are favourable for batting, India faces a significant challenge.
