Owing to a dip in form, Yuzvendra Chahal is running out of breathing room in the Indian squad. With Rahul Chahar and Varun Chakravarthy breathing down his neck, he needs to perform in order to keep his place in the side.

Yuzvendra Chahal to play a key role against Sri Lanka

The Indian team that played in the WTC Final will be unavailable for the Sri Lankan tour. Therefore, the selectors picked an ‘A’ squad that will be captained by Shikhar Dhawan. Experienced pace bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, will act as his deputy and will also lead the bowling attack against the Lankans. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep are part of the squad and might play after a long time.

Yuzvendra Chahal will look to make the most of the opportunity and cement his berth in the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup. The tournament is likely to start on October 17 with the final scheduled to take place on November 14.

Former Indian batsman Rahul Dravid will don the coaching role for the team. He has been prominent in aiding the development of the youngsters, particularly the under-19 squads. Dravid has repeatedly declined the possibility of a coaching role for the senior team. Will this tour change his mind – It’s yet to be seen.

The series will kick off on July 13 at R. Premadasa StadiumΒ in Colombo. The two Asian giants will be playing a 3-match ODI series followed by a 3-match T20I series.
