Delhi Capitals take on Chennai Super Kings in match 34 of IPL 2020 in Sharjah. This is the reverse fixture between the two teams after Delhi beat CSK comprehensively in the first encounter. Delhi are joint toppers in the points table alongside Mumbai Indians with 12 points, while CSK are on six points from eight games. All the teams have played eight games each so far as the second phase of the league stage has well and truly started. More about the DC vs CSK match preview in detail below.
Chennai and Delhi have both played their respective last game in Dubai and have won defending. Chennai had a near-perfect last game where they choked Sunrisers Hyderabad and prevented them from reaching the target. With the nature of the pitches changing, Chennai are coming into their own. Conditions now in all the three grounds are close to what Chennai offers. Low and slow wickets with spinners getting turn and bounce. That was the first game this season which Chennai won defending. They are close to finding their right team combination and the right tactics for the second half. They won’t change the team too much one expects with the team performing well in their last game.

Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings Round 2
Delhi, on the other hand, have been playing well despite being marred by injuries. The replacements have put their hand up so far to get the job done for their team. However, this time around, they are facing a different CSK team, than the one they faced before. MS Dhoni thrives as a captain in the given conditions to make his own play. This is something Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer would be aware of. Their top-order has been brilliant throughout the competition so far and will e aware of the threat that the Chennai bowlers possess.
Injuries have played their part in hampering their campaign. Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma have been ruled out and Rishabh Pant and recently Shreyas Iyer have coped up with injuries as well. In this crucial phase of the season, it will be interesting to see how Delhi forms a formidable playing XI with key players injured.
Head to Head: Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings
Out of the 21 games played between the two teams, CSK have won 14, while Delhi just seven. Delhi beat CSK by 44 runs when both teams met earlier this season in Dubai.
Pitch & Weather Conditions
Pitches in Sharjah have considerably slowed down in the last few matches. However, with the shorter boundaries, quality batsmen can still score runs. There is hardly any dew in the games now, which makes the toss that much more crucial. Majority of the games have been won by teams batting first and that will remain the template going forward especially with the pitches slowing up.
Team News
Rishabh Pant was seen training with protective bands around his thigh. He also did a few fitness tests in the practice sessions and looked in good spirits. Shreyas Iyer underwent rigorous treatment on his shoulder but if he is available for the game is yet to be known. In case both Iyer and Pant miss out, their replacement choices will be interesting.
CSK having won their last match comprehensively would not look to change the side. However, the presence of four left-handers in the batting line-up of Delhi might see the leg-spinner be rested for the game, keeping in mind the matchups. In that case, either of Kedar Jadhav or Jagadeeshan will be in the fray again for participation.
