The McCullum family is all set to see another son make a mark in cricket. Brendon McCullum”s son Riley McCullum is piling up runs in U-14 tournament and making his dad feel proud.
Riley finished second in the most valuable player rankings at the Northern Districts primary boys tournament. The tournament has a slightly different format. Players earn points for batting, bowling, and fielding in CricHQ”s system, and Riley picked up 22.93, 18.53 and 4.28, for a total of 45.76.

He helped his side Waikato Valley win the tournament, with a perfect record of five wins from five games. Riley scored 189 runs in his five innings, with best of 73*, at an average of 63. With the McCullums, you expect the strike rate to be high, and Riley didn”t disappoint! He had a strike rate of 96.43, which clearly indicates he is a chip off the old block!
He also showed his potential with the ball picking 8 wickets, at an average of 9.88 and a strike rate of 13.63. His best bowling return was 4-17. His uncle Nathan McCullum will be impressed.
“Seen a few grounds, done a few things in this game but seeing your boy top of the pile of his U14 regional tournament, takes the cake. Onya Son!” Brendon McCullum tweeted.

The McCullums surely love their cricket! Brendon McCullum”s father Stuart McCullum was a left-handed opening batsman and has played 75 First-Class matches and 41 List A matches for Otago between 1975 to 1991. His brother Nathan was a handy off-spinner for New Zealand in T20 Cricket. Now we are all set to see the 3rd generation of McCullum family make a big impact in New Zealand cricket.
