Abdul Samad Opens Up On His Indian Premier League Debut Against SRH

Abdul Samad became the fourth Jammu and Kashmir cricketer to play in the Indian Premier League after Parvez Rasool and Manzoor Dar and Rasikh Salam. He scored an unbeaten 12 off seven balls which included a four and a six. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the game by 15 runs and got off the mark in this year’s IPL after two back to back defeats.

Meanwhile, after the game, Samad opened up on his IPL debut saying that he was happy to play in his first IPL game. He said that the first game gave his confidence and the belief that he belongs to the big stage. He further said that he wants to stand on the people’s expectations and wants to give it his best.

“Felt really well playing here in my first game. I hit a huge six which gave me a lot of confidence. People back home have a lot of expectations from me and hope I’ll do good in the future games” Abdul Samad told after the match.

Abdul Samad Speaks on His IPL Debut

He further said that the team management defined his role to him and he was happy to follow it. e said that he management backed him to play his game coming into bat at number five. He also opened up on facing the Delhi quicks Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje.

“Team management told me beforehand to play my natural game. They told me to go free and just hit them. I started swinging from the first ball I faced. I missed 3-4 times but when I hit that six (off Nortje) I got a lot of confidence. I hope I can hit more sixes in the upcoming matches,” Abdul Samad added.

Abdul Samad further said that he was not nervous going into his first game in the biggest franchise T20 league. Speaking of the same, the cricketer from Jammu & Kashmir said that mostly the domestic players feature against whom he has played.

“I did not feel much pressure playing my first IPL game. There is not much difference between domestic cricket and IPL because mostly the same players feature in both. The pressure and intensity is a bit higher in IPL. We did not have any crowd but even then I didn’t feel much pressure,” Samad said.

Sunrisers Hyderabad play their next game against Chennai Super Kings on October 2 in Dubai.
