Crowds Likely In Remaining Phase Of IPL 2021: Reports
Al Yasmeen Building Residents Getting a glimpse of the match inside the Sharjah cricket stadium

The BCCI announced in its SGM meeting on Saturday that the remaining half of IPL 2021 will be played in the UAE. It is likely to start from September 17 in the UAE. The final will be played on October 10. In its SGM meeting on Saturday, the BCCI said that the second half of the tournament will be played in the UAE. However, they are yet to announce the schedule. In another major development, the BCCI are trying their best to get crowds back into the stadiums.

As per reports in Cricbuzz, a team of BCCI officials is in Dubai to finalise arrangements with the ECB as well as the UAE government. Board secretary Jay Shah, treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal, vice-president Rajeev Shukla and joint secretary Jayesh George are understood to have landed in Dubai on Monday (May 31).

Meanwhile as per discussion by the BCCI office-bearers and the Emirates Cricket Board, getting crowds back into the stadium should not be a concern for the remaining games.

“The vaccinated fans can be allowed up to 50 per cent of the [stadium] capacity,” a UAE board official said.

Meanwhile, a special permission had to be availed from the UAE government for the arrival of the BCCI officials. ECB officials went to the UAE government to allow access of charter flights for their arrival.

The purpose of this visit is to finalise the remaining schedule of IPL 2021. Along with that, the stay of the players will also be finalised. There may be discussions over the concessional price for the hotels which are believed to be quoting exorbitant amounts given the impending Dubai Expo.

Also, a final call on the World T20 will be taken on an ICC meeting on June 1. The FTP for 2021-2023 cycle will be discussed. A meeting on a 14-team ODI World Cup is also to be discussed.
