Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has shared his opinion that Chennai Super Kings should rebuild their team around Ravindra Jadeja once MS Dhoni retires. Vaughan put his comment after the star all-rounder turned the game to his side by taking four catches on the boundary and displaying some brilliant fielding skills.

At Wankhede, the run chase floated for Rajasthan until Jos Buttler and Shivam Dube were stitching a partnership. In the 12th over, Jadeja cleaned up Buttler and also got rid of Dube pushing Rajasthan Royals to take the back seat. After that, RR never went back into the game as Jadeja haunted them on the boundary.

According to Michael Vaughan, when MS Dhoni hangs up his boots, the franchise should knit their team keeping Jadeja at the centre. He also praised Ravindra Jadeja for his temperament to carry out any responsibility in the future in the absence of MS Dhoni. 

“You may say that Dhoni will play for 2-3 more years but let’s be honest, he’s not gonna play a great deal after that. So you’ve got to start looking at who you can build a team around and to me, Ravindra Jadeja is the kind of cricketer that I would build my team around. I just think he’s that good with the ball, in the field, with the bat in hand, his mindset, his mentality is very good,” said Vaughan on a Cricbuzz show.

“Jadeja for me is the kind of player to whom you can say ‘You’re gonna bat at No.4 or 5, get in there early. We might even open the bowling with you, depending on who is batting. We’ll put you in key fielding positions.’ He is ready for that. I think he is that good a cricketer,” Vaughan said.

Michael Vaughan also applauded the Englishman in Yellow, Sam Curran for taking up challenges. He also commented that after four-five years Curran can take up the most important role. Chennai Super Kings are currently placed 2nd in the IPL 2021 points table with two wins from three matches.
