A lot of emotions ran through the Indian audience who were glued to their television sets to see their side triumph in the Afghanistan encounter. Virat and Kedar brought up their half-centuries in the game while other batsmen weren”t able to put up a lot on the board. The Indian top-order had no answers for the spin attack as they felt a lot of discomfort in scoring boundaries. Chasing 225, Afghanistan batsmen responded positively and remained calm in the initial stages.
A brilliant spell from Jasprit Bumrah seemed to have turned the game towards India but Mohamed Nabi held the nerve till the final over. Shami”s brilliance overtook Nabi”s belligerence as he took the second hat-trick by an Indian in the world tournament and ended the game with the figures 4/40.
