India and England faced off in the second Test match of five-match Test series at Lord’s, London. Virat Kohli once again lost the toss and was invited by Joe Root and co. to bat first. Meanwhile, this decision turned out to be a good one for India as Indian opener KL Rahul smashed a brilliant century.
India batting first turned out to be a great decision for Virat Kohli and Co. As both the openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul performed exceptionally well for the team. The opening duo of Rohit and Rahul had a 126 runs partnership.
Rohit Sharma smashed a brilliant 83 runs before giving his wicket away to James Anderson. However, Cheteshwar Pujara once again failed with the bat at Lord’s. He is going through a very tough time as his Highest score in the last 10 Tests is just 21.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul stood strong on the one end and smashed a brilliant century at Home of cricket, Lord’s cricket ground. Notably, He was not the first choice opener for India when the Test series started. Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal were the top two picks to open with Rohit Sharma.

However, after injuries faced by Gill and Mayank, Rahul got the opportunity to open and he did a great job. Rahul scored a brilliant half-century in the first Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Also, he carried great form in the second Test and smashed a century. If he carries this form he will soon cement his position in India’s top order in the purest form of the game.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul is the 10th Indian batsman to score a Test century at the Lord’s. Former cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar is the only Indian cricketer to score three centuries at this iconic venue.
Here is how Twitter reacted to KL Rahul’s century at Lord’s, London.

Special special ton @klrahul11 . Grind, class and his array of fluent shots, so sure of his bearing after working so hard to lay the foundation. This should be his finest till date in white flannels. #ENGvIND

Rohit & KL Rahul have utilized their practice time in the UK impressively. Last time I saw Rahul play test cricket was in the Caribbean 2019. He looked uncertain & rushed then. Now, very rarely have I seen an Asian opener play as late with such assurance in English conditionsš
