India’s slide was started by the veteran James Anderson right from the first over of the match. India opted to bat first after winning the toss. The veteran pacer removed India’s top three early making it easier for the other bowlers to get into the act. Anderson dismissed KL Rahul (0), Cheteshwar Pujara (1) and Virat Kohli (7). Kohli fell to Anderson for the seven-time in Test cricket. The England pacer has dismissed him the most times in Test cricket.

In the ongoing Test series against England as well, Kohli has found it tough to get himself accustomed to the English conditions. In the ongoing third Test at Headingley, Kohli yet again was dismissed early by Anderson for just 7 off 17 balls. This is the second time in the series that Anderson has dismissed the Indian skipper.
Sam Curran and Craig Overton both had a chance to pick up a hat-trick. Both of them took two wickets off successive deliveries but was denied on the hat-trick ball.
