England Cricketers Unlikely To Be Available For Final Leg Of IPL 2022

England Cricket Team players are unlikely to be available for the final stages of the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). Meanwhile, the upcoming season will be a 10-team affair with two new teams from Lucknow and Ahmedabad have been inducted into the IPL sphere.

The tournament is likely to run from 27th March 2022 till the end of May for a period of over 2 months. Thus, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) might ask the Test players of the England side to withdraw from the later stages of IPL 2022, as England are slated to take on New Zealand in a three-match Test series that will commence on 2nd June 2022.

The franchises are aware of the fact that they might miss the English cricketers in the final stages of IPL 2022. And, they are expected to go into IPL 2022 mega auction with plans on similar lines.

Several Test cricketers including Jonny Bairstow, Ollie Pope, Mark Wood, and Dawid Malan will go under the hammer. Meanwhile, English captain Joe Root has pulled out of the auctions in the aftermath of the Ashes debacle where they lost to Australia by a margin of 0-4.

Ben Stokes has also decided not to be a part of the next season while Sam Curran has withdrawn to complete his recovery and prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in Australia later this year.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have retained wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler for the upcoming season along with skipper Sanju Samson and young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The IPL 2022 mega auction is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.
