South Africa’s Dewald Brevis is grabbing the headlines for all good reasons. He has been on a run-scoring spree in the ongoing U-19 World Cup in the Caribbean Islands. With 362 runs in four games including a century, in fact, Brevis ended the league-stage as the leading run-scorer.

Brevis batting style has already drawn comparisons with former South African legend AB de Villiers and has often been called as ‘Baby ABD’. While the Proteas rely on his batting display in the ongoing U-19 World Cup, the youngster has already set his eyes on the future.

Dewald Brevis wants to represent South Africa across all formats and also wishes to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He also named AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli as his favourite players.

“For me, the biggest dream is to play for the Proteas and then I am such a big fan of the IPL, I would love to play for RCB because AB (de Villiers) and (Virat) Kohli are there,” said Brevis in a video posted on the official website of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

“Also, all the other T20 competitions around the world. I want to be recognized as an all-rounder with my leg-spin bowling. I want to play all three formats,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dewald Brevis’ love for Royal Challengers Bangalore is nothing new. He has shared a couple of pictures donning the RCB jersey on his social media accounts.

Speaking about AB de Villiers, the legendary batsman announced his retirement from all forms of the game last year. He has represented RCB from 2011 to 2021 and has been an integral part of their squad.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli has relinquished his leadership duties after IPL 2021. However, he continue to play as a batsman in the team in the upcoming season.
