Former India skipper MS Dhoni is unequivocally one of the greatest cricketers of all time. His street-smart leadership qualities and ability to strike the ball makes him a rare component. He has a plethora of qualities which makes him the greatest he is but Faf du Plessis recently revealed his biggest strength.

The former South Africa skipper has seen Dhoni from close quarters while playing for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Faf du Plessis has been a key contender the Super Kings line-up and a match-winner for MS Dhoni. Having Represented Chennai for a quite a few years now, du Plessis has observed his skipper from a very close spot.

Speaking on his skipper, the Proteas batsman said that it is Dhoni’s gut feeling which makes him what he is today. Faf du Plessis also added that MS Dhoni’s ability to read other people’s mind has fetched him a lot of success over the years in top-level cricket.

“He reads the other player really well and he uses that to make instinctive decisions on the field. He’s got an incredible gut feeling on the game and I think that’s his biggest strength,” du Plessis said in a Facebook live session with Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal.

Furthermore, Faf du Plessis also revealed that MS Dhoni changed his perception of the skipper of a team. The 35-year-old stated that Dhoni has got the cricketing brain and uses it to perfection when needed. The wicket-keeper batsman is the only skipper in the history to win three ICC titles apart bringing other accolades for his country. Dhoni also has three IPL titles to his name.

“It was amazing for me to see how different M S was as a captain. I used to think a captain must speak all the time in team meetings etc but M S was completely different. He doesn’t believe a lot in team meetings. He’s a very instinctive captain he’s got such a good cricket brain that he relies on it to make the right decisions on the field,” fu Plessis signed off.
