Glenn Maxwell was immensely analysed by Virender Sehwag after his poor show in IPL 2020. Maxwell while playing for Kings XI Punjab failed throughout the season and was unable to live up to his Rs. 10 crores tag. Sehwag had mocked Maxwell as a ‘10 crore cheerleader’ after he could only score 103 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of mere 101.

Since then it was a matter of time before Maxwell was asked to react to Sehwag’s statements about him. While listing the top 5 flops of IPL 2020, Sehwag didn’t spare Maxwell and slammed him in his style.

“Glenn Maxwell. This 10 crore cheerleader proved very costly for Punjab. His IPL routine for the last few years has been of shirking from work but this season he broke that record as well. This is what you call a highly paid vacation,” Sehwag said about his former KXIP teammate Maxwell in an episode of his YouTube show ‘Viru ki Baithak’.

Now, Maxwell has finally returned to Sehwag and stated that the former cricketer is in the media for such statements. The Australian added that Sehwag is allowed to say whatever he likes and he will take it with a grain of salt with him.

“It’s ok. Viru is pretty outspoken with his dislike of me, and that’s fine. He’s allowed to say whatever he likes. He’s in the media for such statements, so that’s fine. I deal with that and move on, and take it with a grain of salt with Sehwag”, Maxwell said.

Meanwhile, Maxwell last year had taken a break from cricket to improve his mental health. The explosive batsman returned to his national squad for the tour to England and played a pivotal role in the ODI series win of Australia. Unfortunately, Maxwell looked nowhere near his best touch and failed miserably in IPL 2020.

After taking a break from cricket last year Maxwell maintains he is now more equipped to deal with criticism. Maxwell will now be seen in the ODI series again India which will all set to begin on November 27 at Sydney.
