Former KKR captain Gautam Gambhir recently appeared on Star Sports Show Cricket Connected. On the show, he spoke about a player from RCB who can be their finisher as well as bowl 4 overs for them. It’s Chris Morris for the former player from Delhi since Chris Morris is an all-round player who will go on to contribute with both bat and ball.
As we’ve been seeing over the years, RCB haven’t always been the most balanced side. Every year or two they will have one or two elements missing in their side going into the season. But by all means this year the RCB side looks all set as they’ve picked the right set of players.
Chris Morris Provides The Right Balance To RCB: Gautam Gambhir
The buzz for all-rounders is always high in T20s which is why Gambhir specifically spoke about how Chris Morris provides that balance and stability to the RCB side. As a quality bowler like Morris can bowl 4 overs for his side and can also play the role of a finisher for the side.
“Chris Morris provides balance to the RCB squad, a quality all-rounder although he has not played much cricket. He can be a finisher as a batsman and can also give you 4 overs and bowl at the death,” Gambhir said in a Star Sports’ show.
He further talked about the Kohli led side being batting heavy but at the same time, the RCB bowlers will also have a sigh of relief. Since they aren’t playing on the flat pitches of Chinnaswamy stadium this year.
The pitches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are expected to be dry with long boundaries which will eventually help the bowlers to some extent. Also not to forget how the Bangalore Stadium is the smallest and flattest wicket in all of India.
“I still feel that RCB look a little batting-heavy. But one thing that you will see a little different is that the bowlers will be happy because they will not have to play 7 matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. You will be playing in Dubai and Abu Dhabi which probably have bigger grounds, wickets are not as flat as Chinnaswamy. It is always difficult to judge the bowlers from Chinnaswamy’s point of view.
