Former India cricketer VVS Laxman in a series of tweets has been showing his gratitude to India’s favourite sons. He has earlier heaped praise on Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, and Sourav Ganguly among others. On Saturday, VVS Laxman showered praise on Harbhajan Singh.

Harbhajan has so far played 103 Tests and 236 ODIs for India in which he has scalped 417 and 269 wickets respectively. Besides, he has also featured in 28 T20Is in which he has picked 25 wickets. His last appearance for India came in a T20I game against UAE in 2016.

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh and VVS Laxman were a part of the memorable Test against Australia in 2001 at Eden Gardens. They played significant roles in the Test match. While Laxman added a crucial partnership with Rahul Dravid, Harbhajan picked up a hat-trick returning with figures of 13/196. India won the match to end Australia’s winning run across the globe.

Lauding Harbhajan Singh’s effort in the India jersey for a decade and a half, VVS Laxman said that the off-spinner came past the professional setbacks to achieve success. He, over the period, has played significant roles in taking Indian cricket forward. He was also a part of the 2007 and 2011 World Cup-winning squad producing match-winning performances.

“Another person could easily have buckled under the string of personal and professional setbacks that marked the early part of his career. Channelising potential frustration into unbridled aggression, Harbhajan Singh held his own at the highest level for a decade and a half,” Laxman said on Twitter.
