Rishabh Pant, the newly appointed Delhi Capitals captain for IPL 2021 is the talk of the town at the moment. He is going through a rich vein of form wince the Australia series and now the captaincy responsibility ahead of a new IPL season has been the icing on the cake. Meanwhile, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has recently praised the youngster saying that he is an absolute matchwinner and he loves watching him bat. 

In an interaction with PTI, Ganguly said that he likes watching Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant bat and that the left-hander is an absolute matchwinner.

“I am obsessed with Rishabh Pant because I think he is just an absolute match-winner. Jasprit Bumrah is good, Mohammed Shami is good, I like Shardul Thakur a lot because he has got the courage and guts” said Ganguly. 

“There are some fantastic players and I think as President of the Board I should not say who is my favourite player. All are favourite to me but I enjoy Kohli, I enjoy Rohit Sharma,” Ganguly added. 

Ganguly said that India has continuously produced a generation of superstars who has taken on the baton from the previous one. He cited examples of Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and so on. 

“There is immense cricketing talent in India. When (Sunil) Gavaskar was there people used to think what will happen after him, then came (Sachin) Tendulkar, (Rahul) Dravid, Anil Kumble. When Tendulkar, Dravid left, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant took over,” he said.

 Meanwhile, all the franchises have got down to practice sessions ahead of IPL 2021. The season will kick off from April 9 with Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore playing the season opener in Chennai. Chennai Super Kings will face off in the second game on April 10 against Delhi Capitals. KKR will face off in their campaign opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11, while Kings XI Punjab play their first game against Rajasthan Royals.
