Mumbai Indians cricketer Ishan Kishan recalled the time when the skipper Rohit Sharma got angry with him. The wicket-keeper batter has been playing under Rohit Sharma since 2018 in the Indian Premier League. He won the 2019 and the 2020 Indian Premier League titles with the franchise. This year, the Mumbai Indians brought him back for INR 15.25 crores.

In an episode of Breakfast with Champions, Ishan Kishan shared a lot of incidents from his cricketing journey. Revealing an incident from his first season with the Mumbai Indians, Ishan narrated how he made Rohit Sharma angry. The youngster rolled the ball on the field, while it was dewy during a match at the Wankhede Stadium.

“You know what I did one time at Wankhede? I was new, it was my first season and I didn’t know anything. Now, to make the ball old, you usually throw it on the ground. So, there was a lot of dew in the match that day. And I thought that if I roll the ball on the field, Rohit Bhai will be happy that I am making the ball old.

“So, in that dew, I rolled the ball to him. He took out his towel and began cursing at me. Then I looked down and realized what I had done. Then he told me, ‘Don’t take it personally, it is just match-to-match.”, he added.

Rohit Sharma’s brain is always running on the ground: Ishan Kishan

Mumbai Indians cricketer Ishan Kishan further expressed that Rohit Sharma is a cool customer. He added that Mumbai Indians’ skipper tends to read the game well, as his brain is always running on the ground. Speaking on Breakfast with Champions, Ishan Kishan stated,

“Yeah, Rohit Sharma is chilled out. But his brain is always running on the ground. When he says a batter will hit in this area, usually it tends to happen.”

Ishan Kishan recently played for India in the five-match T20I series against West Indies. This year, he has scored 430 runs in 14 matches, at an average of 30.71. The youngster was unfortunate to miss out on a berth in India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2022, which will take place later this month.
