For many aspiring cricketers around the world, Indian legend Virat Kohli continues to serve as a model. Former Pakistan Under-19 batter Shayan Jahangir, who currently plays for the American senior cricket team, is one such player.
“Jahangir scored his first century against Nepal in the Group A match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 qualifier, earning praise from the cricketing community. After scoring a century, Jahangir expressed his desire to play against the legendary Kohli and prove that there was “another batter on the block.”
Right-handed batsman Jahangir amassed an unbeaten 100 runs off 79 balls, including 10 fours and three sixes, but his performance couldn’t prevent Nepal from winning by six wickets.

For the record, Sami Islam, Imam-Ul-Haq, Hussain Talat, and others were teammates of Jahangir’s when they played for Pakistan’s U-19 team in the past. In addition, before relocating to the US, he played domestic cricket for the Pakistan International Airlines.
The 28-year-old also has previous Caribbean Premier League (CPL) experience from his time with the Barbados Tridents.
In the nine ODIs that Jahangir has played in his ODI career to date, he has scored 235 runs at an average of 33.57 and a strike rate of 90.73. In terms of international cricket, the century against Nepal was his first ever.
