IPL 2020: Eoin Morgan Reacts After Getting KKR Captaincy From Dinesh Karthik
Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik

Earlier today it came as a shock to everyone when Dinesh Karthik quit as the captain of KKR. Karthik handed the captaincy to world cup winning captain Eoin Morgan. From the very beginning of IPL 2020, Karthik was under constant pressure with Morgan being part of the KKR side.

Finally, after mid-way through the season Karthik gave away the captaincy to Morgan. The new Kolkata Knight Riders captain after getting the reigns of captaincy lauded Karthik for being selfless. Morgan added that Karthik has shown enormous courage by putting the team ahead of him.

Incredibly Selfless From Dinesh Karthik- Eoin Morgan

“DK informed yesterday that he would like to step back and focus on his batting as he feels that’s the best option for the team. It’s incredibly selfless and it also shows a lot of courage from him to do that, putting the team first ahead of him being skipper,” Eoin Morgan said before the match against Mumbai Indians.

Meanwhile, Eoin Morgan will now be leading an IPL side for the first time in his career. He is also only the second England player after Kevin Pietersen to lead a side in IPL. Morgan is now looking forward to being the leader of KKR and is keen to work alongside all his players.

“I’m delighted to continue the leadership role within the side, obviously captain and not vice-captain now, but hopefully continue to work alongside our players. We are only halfway through the tournament, we have shown some potential, haven’t quite achieved majority of it yet but tonight will be another good test and hopefully, we’ll be up to it”, Morgan added.

Furthermore, EoinMorgan is presently widely regarded as one of the best white-ball skippers in the world. He completely changed the approach of England’s white-ball cricket and last year led them to their maiden world cup title at Lord’s.
