Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson has left the Indian Premier League (IPL) bio-bubble to attend the birth of his child. He will be flying back to New Zealand and will not be a part of the remainder of the tournament.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad took to social media to announce the news on Wednesday. They posted an official update stating about Kane Williamson’s exit from the bio-bubble, following their match against the Mumbai Indians.

“Our skipper Kane Williamson is flying back to New Zealand, to usher in the latest addition to his family. Here’s everyone at the #Riser camp wishing Kane Williamson and his wife a safe delivery and a lot of happiness! #OrangeArmy#ReadyToRise,” wrote the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Kane Williamson was struggling with his form in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. In thirteen matches, he has scored 216 runs at an average of 19.64. His strike rate of 93.50 was the biggest concern. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad has not named the captaincy replacement yet for the remainder of the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad keep their playoff hopes alive

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have kept their playoff hope alive by beating the Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. They defended 193 runs and won the thrilling encounter by three runs at the Wankhede Stadium.

Rahul Tripathi was the star performer for the franchise with 76 runs at a strike rate of 172.73. He won the player of the match for his match-winning performance. Along with Tripathi, Priyam Garg and Nicholas Pooran also put on valuable runs. In the bowling department, Umran Malik was the pick of the bowlers with 3/23 in his four overs.

Hyderabad ranks eighth on the points table with twelve points from thirteen matches. They have one fixture remaining in the league stages. The Sunrisers will play against the Punjab Kings in a virtual knock-out match on Sunday, May 22 at the Wankhede Stadium.
